Join us for a special FREE EVENT celebrating the 49th Earth Day.
All ages, everyone welcome, no musical experience needed! Bring your drum (and a chair) or borrow one of ours!
Chandler is leading an open drum circle and Thunder & Lightness performance in honor of Earth Day and the work of the Oregon Coast Community Forest Association, stewards of Forest Hill, the (very recently paid off) 17.5-acre Lincoln County Community Forest.
The event is free and open to everyone and we’re urging drum circle members to join us to help lead the drumming and inspire everyone to get engaged.
Free soft drinks will be available. Bring your own snacks, and there are also two BBQ grills if you’d like to cook. The park is fully accessible and has open grassy areas, parking, playground equipment, and hiking trails; if it rains, the picnic pavilion is covered!
About Our Location:
OCCFA worked with the City of Newport some years ago to rezone and rename more than 80 acres of spruce forest – dedicated in 2012 as Forest Park -- in the hills between Big Creek Park and the old swimming pool site near Sam Case Elementary.
OCCFA is working with the city to restore Forest Park and utilize it for environmentally-focused educational and recreational programs and it is adjacent to the Big Creek Park pavilion, where we’ll be gathering on the 20th.
Directions: The park is at 2510 NE Big Creek Road. Turn east off Hwy 101 at 31st St., heading toward 32nd (first right past Walmart, heading north). Right onto NE Harney St., then right onto NE Big Creek Rd.
